Timothy Jemal, Senior Vice President, Government RelationsA 20-year public and government affairs veteran, Jemal most recently served as the executive director of the Orange County & Inland Empire Council for the American Electronics Association (AeA), a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit trade association. In this role, Jemal revitalized the Council’s government relations program through heightened member company involvement in public policy and political advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. He also directed the Council’s working committees, including its public and government affairs groups, and managed all programmatic and membership development activity. Prior to the AeA, Jemal held the position of political director for California United for Nursing Home Care, a coalition dedicated to increased funding for nursing home residents and care givers to improve the quality of care. Under his leadership, Jemal directed a state-wide public education and advocacy campaign which resulted in California Governor Schwarzenegger signing legislation for increased Medicaid rate reimbursements to long-term care providers by over $1 billion. He also directed federal lobbying to secure approval of a new, long-term care rate reimbursement plan by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Earlier in his career, Jemal was the director of government and public affairs for the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) in Washington, DC. During his five-year tenure, he served as the chief lobbyist with the U.S. Congress, White House, State Department, state legislatures and U.S. and foreign diplomats. Jemal's leadership grew the organization into a highly effective Washington advocacy group, and he directed a national legislative, media and grassroots advocacy campaign that led to the enactment of major human rights legislation sponsored by hundreds of members of Congress. |
